Part 1: English by Tarun Thind analysis Watch (or re-watch) the short film English by former Greenford Media student Tarun Thind and then answer the two questions below: English from Tarun Thind writer | director on Vimeo. 1) What meanings are the audience encouraged to take about the two main characters from the opening of the film?  I think one of the many meanings of this film  early on is  that they are  teenagers and  delinquents  as English is seen wearing rough clothes  and  his friends  has poor teeth to show they don't care and aren't bothered obviously we know latter on they are deaf but at first it appears they are a nuisance which is show when English friend plays the  Harmonica in the park  and the homeless man ask him stop  but he keeps playing  suggesting the younger generation are a nuisance to older generation.  2) How does the end of the film emphasise de Saussure’s belief that signs are polysemic – open to interpretation or more than one meaning?   The film

Media consumption audit: blog tasks

Newspapers Which daily newspapers (if any) do you read?  I do not read  any newspapers but if I was to read any Newspapers  it would be the daily mirror as my grandparents  and parents usually vote Labour  and  as I  study GCSE media  I  am already familiar with  them .  What sections of newspapers do you turn to first, and why?   When  I Rarely do read   a Newspaper  I usually just look at the first page  because the most important  stories and information are  usually on the first page but afterwards I do skim through the rest of the paper to see if is there any other important story's happening .  What sections do you never read, and why?  I never read the rest of the newspaper most of the time but if there was one section I  avoid it's usually  the section that  mentions knife crime increasing . However, I still chose to do A level media because Media is a passion of mine and the career field that I want to progress into.  2) Did you take GCSE Media Studies (either here at Greenford or a different school)?  Yes I took it here at Greenford High School. 3) If you answered yes to Q2, what grade did you achieve in GCSE Media? What coursework task did you complete? What would you say your strengths and weaknesses were in GCSE Media? I attained a grade 5 in GC
